Detroit, Michigan – Working Mother magazine has named OpTech as one of 2007’s 25 Best Small Companies for working mothers. The winning companies are chosen for their ability to thrive, while at the same time fostering an atmosphere that supports working moms. Nominees were scored with an eye for innovative ways of offering policies that balance work and home life.
“Family comes first," says President/CEO Ronia Kruse, the mother of three kids under age 5. “Moms like the fact that they can take six weeks of paid maternity leave, and they love the flexible schedules that allow for telecommuting or compressing their hours. Staffers at headquarters get three weeks' paid time off and may take unlimited time off as long as their work gets done.” In addition, on Mother's Day, Kruse invites all female employees to a spa retreat.
OpTech was chosen from hundreds of nominations to make it to the top 25 businesses. In addition to its support for working mothers, the company is a leader in promoting employee diversity, as evidenced by its recent 2007 Diversity Champion award by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater Detroit Chapter.
